CaptionSync accepts a variety of media files for Closed Captioning. This article shows how to use Any Video Converter to transcode your files into a different format. Converting to the MP3 format:

If you don't require Video Encoding or Audio Description for you video, you can submit a proxy file, like an audio version (like MP3), or some other compressed video or audio format. To convert to MP3, follow these steps:

Launch Any Video Converter (AVC), and add your media file into AVC. If your video is online, click Add URL(s) and paste the URL to the media file.

You may add multiple video files of different formats that you wish to be converted at the same time, to the same format.

From the output drop-down list, scroll down to the Audio Files section or click the music icon, and then select MP3 Audio (*.mp3) from the list:

Next to Output Folder, enter the path to the location where the output file should be saved:

Once the media has been converted to an MP3 audio file, you can submit it to CaptionSync.

Converting to the MP4 format:

If you require Video Encoding or Audio Description for you video, and it is not in the MP4 format, you can transcode it to MP4 using Any Video Converter. You can also convert your existing video into a smaller format to use on your Apple devices (like the iPhone), e.g., 480 x 320 pixels.

Launch Any Video Converter (AVC), and add your media file into AVC. If your video is online, click Add URL(s) and paste the URL to the media file.

How to download mp3

You may add multiple video files of different formats that you wish to be converted at the same time, to the same format.

From the output drop-down list, scroll down to the Video Files section, and then select Customized MP4 Movie (*.mp4) from the list:

Under Basic Settings: enter the path to the location where the output file should be saved, next to Output Folder; choose Original next to Video Size, or select a different size if you want a smaller video to use on your Apple devices (like the iPhone); select High as Quality.

Once the media has been converted to an MP4 video file, you can submit it to CaptionSync.

Additional Notes:

While the limit for uploads via our website is 2 GB, and there is technically no size limit for uploading via AST-Link, there's still a maximum amount of content we can store during the download of your files. In general, if your file is larger than a couple GB, and you don't require Video Encoding or Audio Description, it is probably not reasonable to try to upload it -- just create a small "proxy" of the video (that is, either a low-resolution video, or an audio-only version, like.mp3). A "proxy" (a smaller version of the film) maintains the timeline of the video, so the caption files that come back are exactly the same as if you had uploaded the full video. For content where the transcriber does not need to see the video to transcribe it accurately, we only need the audio of the media files.
